IKM presents “telehealth + distance eduction” model at E-Learn 2018 in Las Vegas

On October 15 and 16, 2018, IKM presents its contribution to the design of a 3-tier educational model integrating telehealth and distance learning at the E-Learn conference in Las Vegas, USA. The three geographical tiers consist of an academic program in the USA, an educational and clinical hub in Paramaribo, Suriname, and communities in the Amazon inland of Suriname. Three educational tiers, supporting trainees for a certificate of Health Facilitator, an Associate’s degree as Health Technician (in Audiology) and a Bachelor’s degree in Audiology, are offered by the International Institute of Education for Development (IIED) at Paramaribo under the academic and clinical supervision of audiology experts (Montclair State University) in the USA. Advances in technology and online teaching and learning help to integrate E-learning and telehealth, thereby scaffolding students in Suriname from lower to higher educational tiers. The E-Learn 2019 conference is hosted by AACE, the Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education. The presentation of the model includes a poster presentation and a roundtable discussion.
